When is the opening of the OR complex and Delivery/Birthing Rooms?

Makati Life Medical Center’s Surgical Care Center, located on the 10th floor, includes a dedicated complex for the Admission Unit. Starting May 8, the Operating Room Complex will be equipped to accommodate both minor and major surgical cases.

Who can enter the Delivery/Birthing Rooms?

Patients and the medical team and hospital staff are the only ones who can enter the area.  

Meanwhile, patients' companions are not encouraged to enter, but this is subject to the discretion and approval of the doctor.  

What to bring to your labor and delivery?

Patients’ who will have their procedure at the labor and delivery room, must bring the following items:  

a. Your ID (yellow card) or HMO Card

b. Comfortable clothing & toiletries

c. Phone

d. Baby clothes & stuff

Can the baby stay inside the room together with the patient?

Yes. Unless there is a medical reason that requires the newborn to be admitted at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for close monitoring and observation.

After delivery, how long will the patient stay at the hospital for recovery?

For normal delivery or for patients who gave birth without anesthesia, patients are encouraged to stay in the hospital between 24 to 48 hours after delivery for monitoring.  

Meanwhile, for patients with who undergone caesarian or c- section delivery, the length of stay may depend on their recovery and baby’s health but if there are no complications patients are advised to stay two to four days after delivery.

What are the options for pain relief during labor and delivery?

Before the procedure, the doctor will provide an explanation on all the pain relief options available for the patient and will provide recommendations depending on their case. Patients may choose among the following options available which includes epidural anesthesia, spinal anesthesia, & sedation.
